Teaching Techniques

by Jonathan Thigpen

96 Pages

This book focuses on the philosophical basis of teaching methods with insights from current research. Selecting appropriate teaching methods need not be a daunting task. When the teacher understands God’s perspective on the ministry of teaching, selection then becomes a process of meeting the lesson’s objective through attention to student learning styles, learning domains, and innovative techniques. Both teacher-centred and student-centred methods are explored with refreshing insights. An excellent companion to the course “Understanding People”.

Dr. Jonathan N. Thigpen serves as president of the Evangelical Training Association (ETA) in Wheaton, Illinois. The 70-year old organization ministers internationally, promoting Christian education among evangelical institutions.   Jonathan Thigpen received formal training at Free Will Baptist Bible College (B.A.), Temple Baptist Seminary (M.R.E.), and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Ph.D.).  Dr. Thigpen has ministered in a variety of positions: as a pastor, youth worker, publishing executive, seminar leader, college professor, curriculum writer and editor. Jonathan has a passion for training and equipping others to effectively teach the Word of God.

Teaching Techniques was originally written by Dr. Clarence H. Benson, professor at Moody Bible Institute and founder of Evangelical Training Association. God has used this book to help in the training of thousands of teachers in hundreds of local churches around the world.
